All employees are entitled to:
- Basic introduction and training in sterile technology and work with cell cultures and microorganisms before work can be performed by the employee.
- Be offered vaccination when available.
Work with (pathogenic) microorganisms should be assessed and additional security measures implemented if deemed necessary.
Risk of transmission of infection when working with human pathogenic bacteria and viruses
- Infection by needle stick and cuts by direct exposure of bacteria and viruses is considered to be high.
- Exposure risk depends on the type of pathogen and must be evaluated for each type.
